Even those who do not yearn
Making boring topics exciting and fun
Is not an easy task to be done
Offering guidance into the future
Especially for those who are unsure

Saving youngsters from torment
When awful bullies won’t relent
Blocking doors with desks and chairs
An all too common state of affairs
Protecting children from the danger
Brought about by an angry stranger

Doing so much more than asked
Assuming roles that were not tasked
Unappreciated, too often not praised
Greatly overworked and grossly underpaid
The next time you come across one
Thank a teacher for a job well done
