Moving Forward

Nothing lasts forever. Whether it is a house from childhood, that favorite hangout as a young adult, or even one’s friends, everything will go through changes over time. Even the great pyramids, while they have stood for many millennia, have been withered by the sands of time. One’s memories are no different. While they can preserve the places and things from one’s past, they too will fade over time as one ages.

The past is just that...the past. It cannot be altered. It is a reminder of where one has been; a collection of lessons learned over a given span of time. Dwelling on the past is not something with which one should be consumed. Reminiscing about one’s past is fine for nostalgia, but the constant stewing over one’s wrongs does not a healthy lifestyle make.

Time waits for no one. In order to move on with life, one must continue to live in the moment and move forward. New memories must be made, of new places and with new faces. The past can never be completely forgotten. However, past lessons learned can only aid in the forging of new memories and new friendships.
